Fiber Arts

Shibori Dye Class
Saturday, May 4 @ 10 am

Ready, set, Indi-GO!

In this hands-on workshop with Asia you will learn the basics of folding and binding techniques to create unique patterns on silk using indigo dye. Students will have time to discuss setting up the vat and spend time preparing materials for dyeing. You will be amazed as the stunning one-of-a-kind patterns are unfolded and revealed!

Supplies will be provided. You may bring one small item of your own to dye, which must be of a natural fiber such as cotton or silk. No large items like bed sheets or fabric yardage.

The dye process can get a little messy. Ear clothes and shoes that you wouldn’t mind getting stained.

Spinning is necessary to learn because it is the foundation to creating fabric. People have been mystified by the complexity of the process until they sit down and learn just how easy twist fleece in to thread really is.
